Masculinity is dying out as we know it. We are living in a society where being masculine is frowned upon and where our old masculine ways are being looked down on, which isn’t necessarily bad, but it has been taken too far. We are living in a world where there are soy boys named Osha, Elijah, and Avery working at hipster coffee shops and attending tech expos. What ever happened to Seabass, Maverick, and Cletus? God forbid your parents name you freaking Tycho.
Statistics show that masculinity is on a massive decline. According to HeroRise.US,” A study by YouGov found 2% of young men feel completely masculine (compared to 56% of those over 65s). Men are becoming more disconnected from their Masculinity, and women feel men are less masculine. Many factors show Masculinity is in decline” . (see herorise and yougov). This is caused by a number of things, one obviously being that as society has progressed, being masculine has become more frowned upon. Social media is killing the masculine spirit by rotting the minds of young men.
Obviously, this is going to have a large impact on men’s mental health. Men will have identity crisis’s because they don’t know what to be. Men who want to be more manly will be shut down by those who fear masculinity even though its not all bad. This will lead to men feeling it is wrong to be a man, and wrong to be who they are. They will feel guilty even though there is nothing to be ashamed of. We as a society need to show men that its okay to share feelings and emotion, but that it is also okay to be the man you were meant to be.
Now, there is a solution to bringing masculinity back into America, but the answer probably isn’t what you think. It’s something that has been around forever, but we were too blind to realize that it is the key to restoring masculinity back into our lives. The answer is Heavy Metal. Specifically, genres like death metal, doom metal, heavy metal, thrash metal, and power metal. None of that “nu metal” bull. Take a look at some of these album covers,
These are all great demonstrations of masculinity in metal. Each album cover almost perfectly captures and embodies the masculine spirit. They almost all showcase a man or masculine being doing something that kicks ass.
War master by bolt thrower is a great album to start with. Bolt thrower is great band to start you male maxing journey in general. They combine sentiments of battle and hunger with Warhammer. Most people would say that sitting around painting miniatures and then playing with them is “unmanly” and “nerdy” but in reality it’s the ultimate way to live out all your fantasies about battle at your dinning room table with your friends.
Almost all metal or hard rock will boost testosterone in most men.
