Homecoming is something that most students look forward to every year, as it’s a time to show off a new look and hang out with friends. The anticipation builds throughout the week with the spirit days and football game, with the grand finale being the dance. But this year, did it live up to the expectations of students, or did people feel it was a flop?
A complaint I heard from many people was one voiced by sophomore Ava Grundhoffer. “I thought hoco was fun, but there could have been better song choices, and the long line was not it.” The line was out the door; it was so long it made students wait twenty minutes to an hour in order to even get inside, cutting into their night as they waited in the chilly evening air. So many people got impatient with that wait that cutting in line was a huge problem, making entry even longer.
As Ava mentioned, some felt that the song choices were not what many of the students really wanted to dance to. For the first 45 minutes, people weren’t really dancing at all, and were mostly just standing around. If there were more popular songs in the mix, maybe people would have enjoyed the playlist more.
However, once everyone got into the swing of the night, it was worth the wait in the cold. Mina Azen, a sophomore, said, “Hoco was super fun! There was a lot of energy and good memories made!”
Mina’s experience seemed to be the widely voiced opinion of this year’s homecoming dance, as spirits were high, and people were hyped.
