What makes a good teacher? I actually don’t know, but I think Ms. Mathews might fit the prototype. A perfect mix of fun and learning in her class, she has full control of her class… unless Leo and I decide to play Call of Duty mobile, but no teacher can stop our will to play Call of Duty.
Ms. Mathews’ lectures are the best; when the class has to lock in, she makes them lock in. She achieves this because she can have her silly, unserious moments, so her students don’t think she’s a robot, but has also built a relationship with her classes where they know when to do math because students respect her authority. She gets people to lock in by not letting anyone use their phone until they have finished their work, and that doesn’t go well for most teachers, but Idaho University must have taught her well.
I interviewed Ms. Mathews and asked her how she is able to teach so well every day. She said, “I have so much motivation because of awesome students like Jonah Pelander, Leo Lambert, and especially Erez Kennedy.” Those are the words of an awesome teacher.
Her class is top tier because it has such a good environment. I don’t like drawing and I’m not very good at it for some reason, but I like it when I have opportunities to draw in that class. There is a wall in Ms. Mathews’ classroom full of students drawings, displaying her pride and support for her students…. Plus, every iPhone game I play in Ms. Mathews’ class is 100% more fun when I’m playing it in her class.
Ms. Mathews deserves an apple because she is such a good teacher; all she is missing is a cape. She is not an ordinary teacher; she is a super teacher.
