Welcome back. Somehow, we survived the four-day weekend, blinked once, and suddenly it’s Wednesday again! The first week back should feel slow and swampy, but for some reason it’s sprinting past us like it has somewhere better to be. Teachers seem determined to make up for every minute we spent napping or pretending not to hear alarms, and we’re back in the muck. If you’ve already forgotten what class you’re in at least twice this week, you’re not alone.
Winter break is creeping closer too—less than a month away. You can feel it in the hallways: that weird mix of exhaustion and premature holiday energy. People are already talking about travel plans, gift lists, and how they fully intend to “get ahead” on schoolwork over break (we all know exactly how that’ll go).
Winter Sports Kick Off
With the weather flipping between drizzle and full-blown wind attacks, the winter sports scene has officially taken over. Basketball, wrestling, bowling, gymnastics, etc.—everyone is diving into early-season chaos. Athletes are trudging around with their “first week of practice legs” look: half proud, half regretting every decision that led them to voluntary conditioning.
The gyms are buzzing after school, and both wrestlers and gymnasts alike appear to have lived nine lives since Monday. Our Winter sports season energy is in full swing.
Saturday School Reminder
Saturday school is happening this weekend for anyone who needs to check on missing work, get organized, or stay ahead before December turns into an academic avalanche. Think of it as a quiet little reset button… or at least a room where nobody’s trying to talk to you every seven seconds.
Yearbook People Are Everywhere
If you see a random person in your class holding a camera, don’t panic. Yearbook staff is roaming around grabbing candids, but only the good photos are making it into the book. So if you blinked, sneezed, or made the face of someone who just remembered an overdue assignment—it’s not going in.
Midweek Reality Check
If this week already feels fast, don’t get too comfortable. December tends to hit the fast-forward button and forget to stop. But hey—there are short weeks ahead, sports to watch, and winter break is perched in the distant future like a reward for surviving what teachers are plotting between now and then.

Nevaeh’s Mini Survival Guide (Early December Edition)
- Do the tiny assignments first.
Deleting five missing-task notifications feels like winning a small lottery.
- Hydrate like someone is grading you on it.
Your brain refuses to function on fumes and cafeteria fries alone.
- Use Saturday school if you need it.
It’s not embarrassing. It’s strategic productivity captivity.
- Dress in layers.
The weather is basically spinning a chaos wheel every morning.
- Don’t overthink the yearbook cameras.
Mid-blink and mid-crisis faces are automatically banned.
- Remember winter break is coming.
December runs on vibes and feeds off burnout, but the finish line is closer than it feels.
- Fix your wake-up alarm situation.
If you haven’t heard your morning alarm since break ended, maybe set more than one—or put your phone somewhere you can’t just swipe it into silence while half-asleep. Your future self will thank you for actually making it to class conscious.
–Until next week,
